He made the trains run on time and controlled the Unions

Fascism is recognized to have first been officially developed by Benito Mussolini, who came to power in Italy in 1922. To sum up fascism in one word would be to say "anti-liberalism".

...............Socialism and Democracy. Political doctrines pass; peoples remain. It is to be expected that this century may be that of authority, a century of the "Right," a Fascist century."

New Hampshire State Employees Facing Layoffs

Cártel de la frontera del estado de Nueva Hamp...Image via Wikipedia
New Hampshire
State Employees are facing lay offs. I am feeling the hurt for our New England brothers and sisters.

Local 1984 is in action, offering help to those being laid off but what grabbed my attention today was the long term planning that has gone into their contract. When being laid off at an age where you can't retire any employee is worried about health care.

Local 1984 planned for the future. If you lose your job in N.H. it is bad but you have a cushion. Read tthe following from their web site.

5) Do you understand your options about Health Insurance coverage once you stop working?

Any full-time state employee who was laid off as defined in this section, who before the layoff was
receiving state-paid medical benefits under the provisions of RSA 21-I:26-36, who is not eligible to
retire..................shall continue to receive such state-paid benefits............ for a period not to exceed 3 months...................

For the 3-month period, the state shall pay the full costs of continuing medical and health care
coverage This 3-month period shall be included in the calculation of the entitlements required under
the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986 (COBRA) and any amendments
thereto.

Local 1984 tells stewards to tell employees:
.......that the State will continue fully paid coverage of health insurance benefits for
three months under most circumstances; and will pay 65% of the cost for another three months.
Another argument for Unions and for a public option health care plan. I wish the best of luck to our brothers and sisters in New Hampshire.
