Sorry about this post. I am hot, this is my way to let off steam.

The Secretary of the treasury today blamed the people that have mortgages and can't pay them, pretty much saying it't their own fault and they can't expect any help.
Our health care system costs more and provides less than the rest of the leading countries in the world while giving us an infant mortality rate of a third world country and leaving more than fifty million citizens with no care. Even the "good" plans don't seem to consider your eyes or your teeth to have anything to do with health.

President Eisenhower warned against the "Military Industrial Complex” and that statement would have him branded to the left of Al Gore and make him a topic of hate speech by Rush Limbaugh. I’m sorry, saying something against a (in my opinion) pill popping junkie hypocrite like Limbaugh is probably not PC. How could I doubt his judgment?

If the public had a choice, do you think they would turn down a guaranteed pension after a short career (Senators and Representatives), Free health care for life,(Same senators and Representatives), cost of living increases every year and in retirement, (you know who again).

John McCain wants to tax any employee that receives employer paid health care, but doesn’t call it a tax on employees.

State says ‘No’ to salary increase,

The state responded to Local 1000’s proposal for a 7.5 percent general salary increase effective July 1, 2008 with, “There will be no pay increase this fiscal year.” Local 1000 presented its wage proposal to the state this morning. The state responded this afternoon.

“We’re looking at a recession in California,” said the state’s chief negotiator ….. “There will be no raises this year because the state has a cash problem—we’re running out of money.”

“The state didn’t tell us anything we didn’t expect,” said Yvonne Walker, Local 1000 vice president for bargaining. “We’ll just have to be more active in our worksite actions and more creative in our proposals and our solutions to this contract and the state’s budget crisis.”

Utah State Employees to start four day workweek

Plan will affect 17,000 workers.

In July State employees can say "Thank God It's Thursday."

While initially the four day week will is only for one year in an attempt to save employees gas and reduce costs for energy to the State Utah will shortly become the first state to adopt a four-day workweek by order of the Governor.

Forty hours in four days will still get you forty hours pay.

State police, prison guards court employees and some educational employees will not be affected.

During the last contract in Maine State employees won the right to request a compressed workweek although not the right to enforce that request. A four day week would be a boon to many but will raise a lot of questions, about child care and second jobs. Second jobs that many State employees have because they don’t earn enough on the first job.

Perhaps it is time the governor found out how much money could be saved by turning off the lights one more day a week at some locations and how happy the public might be to find an office open before or after they have to be at work.

Oklahoma State employees could get four day workweek

State employees in Oklahoma are pushing for a four day week while still leaving State offices open five days a week in order to help employees save money on gasoline.

Oklahoma employees say that offices could still be open five days a week, but workers would could vary their hours working four10-hour days.

Arkansas State Employees looking at four day week

The legislature in Arkansas approved a motion to study the four day week in late June.

State workers……….with long commutes need relief soon, said Sen. Tracy Steele, D-North Little Rock.

The common thread repeated in Arkansas is that state offices could stay open longer, allowing the public more access to state services.

Another suggestion not heard in other States so far is that a plan allowing state employees to work nine-hour days for the first four days of the week and take every other Friday off.

Hawaii Studies Four Day week for State Employees

Governor Linda Lingle of Hawaii and her staff are studying to see if the state would benefit from the change.

Florida State, cities, and schools are looking at four day weeks.

High fuel costs, traffic congestion, and budget concerns are driving the move all over the nation.

In Florida a study last year in Brevard Community College a four day work week during the summer contributed to fewer employee sick hours and a reduction in staff turnover.
