America goes to the movies

Some of the best movie lines stick with you. The American electorate has said “I’ll get you and your little Cheney too”. The wizard of OZ turned out OK and the end of an eight year nightmare is coming soon.

In one of the Star Trek films a Klingon that had killed Kirk’s son and had been haunting Kirk throughout the film was hanging on the edge of a cliff and Kirk the humanitarian was seen stomping on the Klingons fingers shouting, I have had enough of you!!!!

After that image popped into my mind, another very similar scene from another film came to mind. It’s an image that popped into my mind and caused me to keep hitting the replay button. I enjoyed the end product of my imagination just as much each time around.

The second image from the film AIR FORCE ONE, with Harrison Ford playing the heroic American president whose plane is hijacked by a bunch of terrorists is in the same vein. The head terrorist shoots a woman simply to terrorize the rest of the people aboard the plane.

Near the end of the film, there's a showdown between the head terrorist and the president next to the open door of the plane's cargo hold. At the final moment of this fight, Harrison Ford releases all that holds the terrorist on the plane and kicks him, sending the bad guy off to test landing with no chute, while growling, "Get off my plane!"

Those images popped into my mind the other day. In my mind, We the People of the United States are finally in control, and George W. Bush was the guy who'd hijacked our plane.

I just love the idea of kicking him off to face the judgment of history, while snarling at him, "Get out of our White House!" Will history treat him well?

Frankly, I don’t give a damn.
